Question Bracket for lowering gearbox

To get to the clutch (KV6) I'm hoping to use this method of lowering the gearbox. I need to buy or make a U-shaped bracket to connect the threaded rod to the eye on the gearbox - Colin obviously made one which appears to be steel (pic below). I've got no way of bending flat steel bar into a U - so does anyone know where I can buy a ready made bracket?

This is the nearest I've got so far - https://www.fortatech.com/en/article...-50-x-24-00-mm. Or this https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pneum...E&gclsrc=aw.ds. Both the wrong size.

Those CLEVIS EYES, from the reference in your post, would I think do the job perfectly.---

Not expensive and so much quicker than trying to make something yourself unless you've got lots of scrap bits and pieces of metal around.

It would Jon if they had the right size. I phoned RS and they said the diameter of the thread in that picture is 50mm (fifty!). It needs to be 12mm.

Btw, I don't have any bits & pieces of scrap metal lying around - even if I did I don't have a vice. And even if I did have a vice I don't have a workbench to mount it on. Therein lies the problem.

If anyone else needs a bracket for lowering the gearbox using the 12mm threaded bar method, the one to get is Clevis Joint GM12 from Bearing Boys in Norfolk.

Here it is on a 12mm threaded bar (1 metre).

It's a perfect fit for the lifting eye on the gearbox - and there's enough leeway for the box to swing out of line without putting too much bend on the bar.

GM12 price = £5.03 plus shipping. Made by Dunlop. There's a left hand thread version too (GM12LH).

Bearingboys.co.uk - great service, highly recommended.

Btw, many thanks to Ian for sending me his U bracket. The GM12 arrived right behind it so I just had to test it out. Sorry Ian.
