Sadly I'm too far north! I love just about everything from the 20th century with pre war and up to the 60's. My dad was an aeronautical design draughtsman and worked for Vickers up to 1957, he then worked for Scottish Aviation in Prestwick, he worked there till it closed. The advantage of that meant I went to many air shows, it was great as I had a terrible childhood with my mother, so the little time I had with dad was quality time. Not only was he into planes but built Radios, TV sets too. Plus the cars from his V8 Pilot, Rover75 P4 to the bangers when he retired. Anyway I just love those planes.

My uncle was one of the Few and towards the end of his life he entrusted me in writing his "biography". A complete hoarder he kept everything from his RAF service, log books the lot. Left us in 2010 but he was always the hero in the family. Modest bloke who always said he was just doing his job.

I read a book on the West Malling night Defiants some years back. Very interesting.
You'd only normally spot the enemy planes in the night sky if you looked with the corner of your eye rather than looking directly for them. Much like some star clusters. There's to be a twenty (l think) Spitfire scramble at Duxford soon. A pre-book display only, my brother & father are going. I should have booked too. Drat it!
