Who needs ANPR (well they will soon come into their own because the local authorities will want to know where to send all the pollution fines too for people driving them there deep fat diesel fryers )
How about cycle cam!!!

Here's a precedent, A cyclist with a head camera records a motorist going well in excess of the 30 mph speed limit & sends the recording into the police here in the UK.
They calculated his speed in excess of 90 mph & brought about a conviction in court with only that evidence even though It wasn't recorded on a calibrated device like a speed camera or witnessed by a police officer.

The man in question was was disqualified from driving for six months and fined £592 by magistrates and was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £59, and costs of £620.

Me personally if you're caught by any means of doing over 90 mph in a 30 mph zone you deserve all that's coming to you.

I agree with the excessive speed but a good brief would have got him off with the non calibrated camera.

Looks like it's a big thing nowadays Andy! It must be a win win situation for police forces all over the country not having to spend money on traffic police & police cars. They can get Joe public to do their work for them as this video evidence is now legal in a court.

That dashcam of mine 'Nextbase' has a online "portal reporting hub site" which came with the software where you just upload your dashcam footage straight to to your police dept. https://www.nextbase.com/en-gb/natio...safety-portal/

You do not need a calibrated camera if you measure the distance between two (or more) lamp standards and check the time taken. To allow for any errors, just as long as it much in excess of 30MPH, job done.

It was an accurate post about the present position of the Police management and workings and I was indicating my agreement. No hidden meanings. Chris.S.

I read it as possibly being 'form 22'.

Ah yes well "post 22" I must try harder. I wasn't trying to be clever or obtuse. Chris.S.

It seems you are more likely to be caught speeding by other motorist than with speed cameras now with ever more dashcams fitted in cars! https://www.staffordshire-live.co.uk...torway-2410360
