Default Diesel tourer not starting

I’ve not started my diesel tourer for a couple of weeks. Went to start it today and nothing. It didn’t crank. Lights came on the dash as normal. Noticed the rear wiper going as well but not starting. Is this just a flat battery?
In the past when I’ve had a flat battery, it normally makes a clicking noise.

Thanks.

When I have had a flat battery (recently) The headlamps flashed and also a rapid clicking. swapped the battery and all was fine. I would suggest charging your battery for 24 hours and then try it again, Or swap it for a known good battery.

I’m away from the car now but I think all the lights came on. I’m going to try jumping it and see if that works.

In the past, I’ve had rapid clicking as well when the battery has gone flat but it didn’t make any noise at all this time.

It could be that the battery has completely died,, When you jump start it make sure you attach the earth jump lead to a point on the engine, and of course the the live to the battery terminal(red) ,The reason being my battery was completely F.U.B.A.R.D and would let the jumper battery power pass thru it.

Actually the power from the jump leads doesn't need to go through the battery.

You could take the battery out and the car would start quite happily with just the jump leads attached.---

PS.--FUBAR

Here endeth todays lesson.---

You say---lights came on plus the wiper.

No clicking however, so it's your solenoid that's stopped working or the small lead (Tag. ) that's making a bad contact.

I'd stick a voltmeter across the battery before getting overcomplicated about it.

Your battery needs to show at least around 12.3 to 12.4 volts to trip the solenoid.

You say your dash lights came on.--When you turned the ignition key did the lights go out ??
