Overheating but not a Rover
Friend has messaged to say the overheating light has come on on their car, no idea what car.
They took it to the garage and it has water but not how much. They say the injectors and pistons need changing or change the top half of the engine. I cant see pistons and injectors failing as part of over heating. what are your thoughts? The car was going up a mountain when the light came on and went off when going down. Could happen if going up quickly, high revs or lugging a lot of weight or the fans not working. If the car drives, feels and sounds ok and has enough water apart from perhaps an oil change I am tempted to say leave alone. what are your thoughts? I have asked what car they have and will add this to the thread incase it makes a difference. macafee2 The car is 2016 Mazda CX5 Last edited by macafee2; 24th November 2021 at 13:09.. |

The car is only 5 years old. I smell a rat.
I seriously doubt anything serious is wrong. Absolute worst case would be a head gasket and I even doubt that. The friend needs to get the car back tout suite and take it somewhere else.

That's misinformation from a dodgy garage.--What make of car is it ??
My wife's Citroen C4 did exactly the same thing several times when towing a caravan up into the Pyrenees a few years ago. Has been perfectly OK since when not worked so hard. Keep your money in your pocket.--- |
