Makes interesting viewing and reading at this time of year, especially with all the talk of renewables, solar, wind etc.

Looks like we'll all be paying extra for those 22 energy suppliers going bust.

on the news I have just heard that gas and electricity prices may rise by a staggering 50% by next Spring. This is going to put more people in the heat or food bracket.

Yes, I heard that yesterday on the radio. Our poorer people are going to really suffer, they need to be helped. We have to address this before we plough down the green agenda.

Actually, the green agenda in the form of renewable energy resources is what is needed to address this issue in the long term. Energy supply is a powerful weapon in establishing world order.

Not if it means we are dependent on wind and solar power. Because they are not constant we have to pay for solid fuel/gas power stations to be on stand by. If we have to use them we end up paying £2500/megawatt when we used to pay them £50/megawatt. I think for wind power to make it attractive to suppliers we pay over £100/megawatt.
We could bankrupt ourselves going Green if we are not careful.

There's a big Brouhaha going on at present as what is deemed "Green energy" France wants nuclear & gas classified as Green energy because that is their main form of energy production but the Green goddess Ursula has put her Rottweiler Frans Timmerman on the case stating the western half of the EU/Uk wont get that classification but the east side of EU members Romania, Greece, Poland et al who are heavily reliant on coal for their electricity & have a lower GDP compared to the western half of the EU will have a stay of execution to convert their coal fired power stations to gas fired until such times as they can go to renewable energy.

For the home owner considering having solar panels installed, solar power is not cheap. Every new build house should have solar panels installed by the builder, it should also be able to produce x number of watts. The finer details would need to be put down in legislation. Perhaps solar panel battery storage should also be a condition of build. I find it staggering that new houses are going up with no solar panels.

You have answered your own question - "solar panels are not cheap"

I forgot to add nuclear & gas will be subject to the ETS carbon pricing which will cost France & all other countries using them dearly.
