Default New Exhaust issues

I have just replaced my silencer with a new clamshell one from DMGRS. its much larger than the cheap one on the car when I got it. I brought the correct clamp but it seems to rattle around, and makes a knocking noise is there anyway of sorting this out?

It will need hanging correctly and some stronger rubbers fitting by the sound of things.

Thats odd, I've just replaced the original clamshell back box with a DMGRS one and the clamp fits snug. Probably the hangers like Trickey said.

Hi Andrew,

Once you've selected 'Edit' and 'Delete' on your unwanted post, there's a further question asking you to confirm deletion. By default this question has 'Do not delete message' selected. Maybe this is what went wrong for you. I've been caught out by it more than once.

Get the pukka rubber jobs (I got mine from Rimmers). My new clamshell (off DMGRS) and new hanger bracket of e-bay (apparently genuine MGR but made of flat galvanised steel rather than the pressed profile now available as OEM) seem to fit and support the exhaust system fine but only the rear black rubbers were replaced because I couldn't source an OEM intermediate section at the time. I've just spent a small fortune on one (and a sleeve clamp) off Rimmers so the intermediate red rubbers will go on when that is fitted.
Amazingly the intermediate section looks to be original because it's integrated with the cat front section - 17 years and 167K later after leaving the factory, not bad.
