Auto electrical problem
Hello,
Can anyone please advise me on an auto electrical problem on my 75? Take the key out of the ignition and the mileometer light stays illuminated, which drains the battery which has resulted in the battery not holding charge 😞 |

Check plenum drain first, always best to start knowing it's not a drowning ECU.
Just had a battery failure do some similarly strange things so I would get that tested next. Then I would start to pull fuses, starting with the alternator.

Try this
Make sure you have radio code if you need it. 1/ Open bonnet, boot and drivers door and leave open. Remove ignition key 2/ Make sure that Sat Nav (assume a V8 has one) in boot has powered down ie no red lights showing. 3/ Disconnect battery. 4/ Wait 15 minutes. 5/ Reconnect battery.

Its not an uncommon fault, had it myself with my old 1.8T. Simple battery reset usually cures it.
