Ideas on cost
One of my Diesel – Classic CDT Auto - has suddenly started that blue exhaust smoke thing . For a year or more these has been some diesel smell in the cabin but the last month has seen the blue smoke – and getting worse. The car has done 134K miles , runs very smoothly and does not (yet) seem to lack any power – very responsive. I love this car and will not see it scrapped BUT am a bit tight on the money ( pension!) at the moment . I am not a diesel expert so , before I enquire at any garages , I thought I would poll club member for ideas on the potential range of cost I may have to budget for.
On a related point , if anyone can point me at a good garage that knows Rover 75’s and diesels reasonably close to Guildford I would appreciate it. For a good garage I am prepared to drive the car over and leave it – providing , of course , I can reach a train line to get home ! All the best. |

I'd have a word with Chris (cb750chris), he's less than an hour away in Portsmouth.

A liklely cause of your blue smoke could be a blocked PCV filter can't remember cost but not very expensive, check DMRGS site. If down on power Check the condition of the O rings on the intercooler, again available from DMRGS. These are easy fixes and likely to resolve your problems.

As above. Check the PCV valve before anything else.Put ‘PCV valve renewal’ into the search button above the page. Artic has done a how-to on this I think.

No problem Chris. That's the benefit of the T4 map, takes a minute to see who's nearest.
