I don't suppose anyone is near southampton/winchester and fancies refitting one of mine do they??!! Constant supply of tea (and maybe a home made cake!) on offer for anyone that does

My O/S rear door card has been hanging off for ages. I did buy a load of clips and give them to my mechanic to have a go and he tried but it only lasted a couple of months before it popped off again!!

I would if I was closer, not much I won't do for a constant suppy of tea

The rears are even easier than the fronts, order some "fir tree" clips and have a go

Now that is good to know. Right I'm off out to whip them off now.

The front one I took off came up like it was when it left the factory.

Having read this excellent how to I immediately removed one door card to change my speaker. All is as mentioned except that the two plastic brackets below, are almost impossible to release from the clips on the door. In the end I had to bend some old pliers so that the tips were bent inwards towards each other before I could remove them. (These are the clips which Haynes tells you to lever off with a large screwdriver i.e. rip the fixing from the metal)!

You will note in both photos there are red boxes, in the photo below you will see a closer up of the area.

On the right is how the metal hook on the main door should look, on the left is the problem most people will be having. The left shows a large plastic surround still attached to the metal hook. This can simply be removed by pushing the top and bottom of the hook in and pulling the black plastic off.

Yeah I suppose Bradford is probably a bit too far even for free tea!! Would it help if I added chocolate cake?!

I am a bit too scared to try myself to be honest. I am pretty sure I would manage to totally mess it up somehow! I may have another look at the how to, order some more clips and see how brave I feel....

I know this thread is from a few months ago but the fir tree clip advice has just saved my sanity.

I used this thread today also. It was a great guide. I am now waiting for another door lock actuator.

They are simply removed by squeezing the metal sprung part above and below with thin nosed pliers, then the plastic clip slides off (sounds like its too late for you)

If in doubt don't read the HAYNES manual
