Probably coming in from front end.

Both RH footwells are one space as far as water is concerned.

Stand on each footwell you'll probably find both are sodden with water.

Remove pedal cover and look up there near EWS for traces/evidence of water.
Have you sealed the oval clip receptors bottom edge of winsscreen.

It did have the boot leak through the rear light seals, I changed these to Rimmers alternative part and now when I check the spare wheel well it is dry, so I don't think it is entering from there. In any case the car is parked pointing slightly uphill.

Without removing rear seats etc to check I don't think that the water is collecting there from somewhere else, but of course leaks can conduct away from the source through carpets and underlay etc.

It's a bit of a mystery and is a concern on an otherwise really nice car.

Any suggestions?
It could a historic leak through the plenum/pollen filter area, or even the scuttle clips, and is now showing up worth checking out.

Thanks for the replies, I gave the plenums a good cleanout earlier in the year, I'm fairly sure that any possible residual damp from that would have cleared by now with our fairly warm and dry summer (didn't notice anything at the time, just did the job as part of a service / overhaul in that area).

I'll read up more on these clips you mention and have a check, and also double check the front footwell for damp.

Recently acquired another 75 for the collection Drove a few hundred miles to view. Checked the car over for the usual problems leaks hand pressed the carpets etc. Car dealer asked what I was looking for specifically. Water or signs of. Satisfied all seemed well, test run was perfect.

Couple of weeks later, there was a puddle in the rear foot wells. Spoke to the original owner, readily told me about issue they had with water on the carpet, they dried the carpet as best they could, decided to trade the car in told the dealer all about it.
Spoke to the dealer, claimed he knew nothing. Lying SOB! It had been garaged so of course it appeared dry. Curses, if he had been honest I still would have bought the car, but would have known and sorted it right away. It was a steal to be fair so perhaps he just wanted it gone.

Ah well no worries.
Sunroof drain project was on!!

Completely stripped the interior and removed the carpet to it's own CSI tent on the patio to dry.
Located the tubes, which had come adrift due to blockage. Of course.
Rodded the tubes and the Duck Billed outlet rubber tube going through to the wheel arch, then changed my mind.
I removed them completely and decided on another method. Replaced the Duck Bills with a wiring grommet.
Removed the PTFE tape from the sunroof tubes, pushed the tube about 2inches into a small length of garden hose.
Sliced the end of the garden hose made pushing it through the wiring grommet a sinch.
Et voilà!

Dried the car it took two weeks to dry the carpet.
Re-assemble, full valet stunning result.

Oooops 'scuse the spelling !! * Length

Another good alternative to the original problem, this gives members quite a few options along with the idea put forward by Dallas

For all the advice regarding these sunroof drains.
I've just finished mine, using 5/8ths connectors. If anyone has difficulty finding these I acquired mine very easily from a firm in Southend, Leigh Baxter Associates, in Stock Road (01702 460970). @ £1.80 each. They say they can post.
Very helpful and packed with all sorts of connectors, pipes etc.
Usual disclaimers please.
Hope this may help some other damp owners

Well owners / members we are coming into the better weather soon so after all the wet weather and rain it maybe wise to get your sunroof drains checked out and sorted Arctic.

AARGH! After declaring smugly, that my sunroof drains didn't leak, while cleaning the interior for tomorrow's Carter Bar run, I discovered that the rear offside footwell is not just damp, but squelchy! Sucked as much as I could through the carpet with aquavac, but its still damp, even after leaving in the hot sunshine, with windows and sunroof open. Lack of smell tells me this is probably fairly recent. So double dammit! Could have been prevented - now I am going to have to strip the interior. The car is outside, ready for an early getaway tomorrow. And guess what? We've just had thunder and lightning, and a (thankfully short) downpour. Can't understand why I haven't been suffering from steamy windows. And why the front footwell is relatively dry, and not squelchy? Although, I have yet to investigate under the carpets.
