strangely enough, I was looking at the Harland and Wolff order book (listed as no.401)for it the other day, along with a lot of other Harland and Wolff paperwork. Amongst the various papers were photographs of ships they had built. Within these there were original photos of its deck, gym and one of the cabins just after it had been fitted out. The building behind my car in the my sig. pic, shows part of the Titanic building, which amongst other memorabilia, has a full size replica of the grand staircase. One of the things that has always got me, is how there is so much interest generated and pride about a ship, that ultimately failed with so much loss of life. I am not complaining about the tourism, and subsequent financial benefit it brings, I just find it all very perplexing. Where I would go to eat my lunch is beside the tender ship, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Nomadic_(1911) SS Nomadic, fully restored in a dry dock.
