Default What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?

Continued doing bits & bobs to crofts tourer.
Had the front arm rear bushes and strut top mounts changed by others on Friday.
Today I Checked the bmw pcv filterless filter.😄
Not sure what I was actually checking for.😳
Changed the intercooler o rings.
Started to clean bits of the engine bay, but got bored.
All things considered, that task may be a step too far, as I would just prefer to drive it.😁

Injected both sills with just over a litre of Dynax S-50 anti-corrosion wax in each sill, then refitted both sill trims on the 75 I'm rebuilding, that was just about the last job before returning it to the road after being involved in a RTA which required a new front end, two new n/s doors and repair to badly dented n/s sill

Today dropped the engine oil and installed a new filter and fresh oil with help of my son. Also replaced air and cabin filters, found latter to be lot easier by removing the ecu and mounting bracket. Spent bit time explaining difference between AC and DC electrics to Aaron before retiring for cup tea and await start of MotoGP.

Nothing, instead I frabbled with the Purple Pig..............

A bit of background on the Purple Pig, retired some five years back when Mrs MB snaffled my old tourer.

So it has not moved for five years, sitting abandoned over the road covered in green stuff, moss and lichen

Imagine my surprise, nay amazement when I fitted a battery yesterday, and turned the key..........not a whirr, nor clack, nor rattle, but burst into immediate life

Blew up the tyres and give it a wash, or should I say several washes, so I'm going to give it a good checking over and see about getting it tested in the next couple of weeks

With a quick T4 session, a duff OSF ABS sensor is all that's amiss electrically, so brakes, and a service to include a timing belt.

Venetian Mauve is the Land Rover equivalent of a Monogram colour, purple to green flip, just as well the paintwork is ok

Today it was air filter and PCV filter changes. Whilst undoing the rear allen screws on the air filter box the extension piece became detached and fell down the back of the engine. Luck was on my side as it got wedged partway down and I was just able to retrieve it with stretched fingertips.
Unscrewed the injector wiring support and unplugged the injectors and moved it all out the way. This made access much better.
Unscrewed the filter housing and spent about half an hour getting it out. I removed the clips for the leak back T pieces but they were not moving easily so I gave up on that as I didn't want to break the T pieces.
So slowly lifting the housing while supporting the leak back pipes the housing finally came off. Rover(or BMW) must have thought long and hard to make it this difficult!
The filter was completely gunked up. Hadn't been changed in a while I think.
Put everything back and had two screws left over. Forget to screw the air inlet tube back on.
Engine cover off again.
Best of all the car started up again afterwards.
I'm slowly building myself up for the big one for the summer......fit a Revotec fan.
Also, surprisingly, managed to fit a 3 metre piece of timber from B and Q in the back, resting on the dash and touching the tailgate.
