From memory years ago I downloaded them all for European countries for free (but I can't recall the website) and there are 2 CDs for France (North & South). But IMHO they are useless because the last issue was done in 2014... and every time I chose not to follow the suggested route my low-line was in errand and soon stuck. Since then I took off all the bits & bobs (radio, CD changer, GPS CD reader & the like) and swapped for a modern double DIN which is perfect, up-to-date (the WAZE app is fantastic for France), larger and no longer in brown & white.

Presume your ICE kit is in the boot. If you want to stay OEM you could also replace the current Mk3 CD reader/drive with a Mk4 DVD unit (it's plug 'n play, plenty of BMW stock if you search on e-bay), there are 'new' up-to-date discs available for about £15-25.

This chap (Rusty in Glasgow) is very good for discs/advice, have a look at www.satnavupgrades.co.uk

The 'standard' (original drive aka Mk3) was a CD reader and those disc updates have not been available for quite some years now. The Mk4 DVD reader version looks almost identical but will/should have 'DVD' printed boldly in white on the front casing. At the moment discs purchased off Rusty are bang up to date and include a built-in maps perspective view option. If your head is the original (Alpine?) OEM unit the image/screen is 4:3 aspect ratio. I have a BMW 'wide screen' 16:9 head fitted (also plug 'n play) so get the benefit of the larger display.

Thanks for your advice. Yes it's the original unit and the one in the boot is DVD. I will contact rusty to see if he has what I read.

Default CD SatNav For France

Hi
Be interested to know if Rusty has anything current for UK and France I'm running the 16:4 head and Mk IV DVD setup.
I believe BMW stopped undating these discs a while ago (2019/20 rings a bell).
Cheers

well my hi-line is running with a 2007 cd Reebs gave me for UK and it works fine, so anything newer than that will be a bonus.
