Default 75 cdti inlet manifold leaking like a sieve

hi i have 2004 tourer i have had this car for many years with no real problems.
About three months ago i pulled the engine cover off as i could smell diesel, on doing this i noticed Number one and Number two injector soaking with diesel. I have a few of these cars lying about so i pulled two injectors of a perfectly running car (but accident damaged) as thought one of these were leaking of my daily driver.
When i stripped the inlet manifold off i noticed it was not the injectors but could see abit of fuel on the face of the inlet manifold but changed the injectors just in case.
Putting new injector seals in and replaced all the gaskets on the inlet. Three months down the line i am back with the same problem. i'm pulling my hair out as have not got a clue where this fuel is coming from the engine now won't start so i can't even check to see where it is coming from. I kept checking for a few weeks to see if the fuel leak had stopped and it had.
Has any one else had the same problem or give me advice on what the problem is.

Hi Alan.
Do you mean that the cam cover is leaking ? as the manifold should make no difference to any fuel being in or around the injector leak off joints, have you double checked the leak off joints as they go brittle over time and can crack thus leaking fuel in and around the injectors, try starting it will a bit engine start see if it will go, then report back to us.

I wonder it the manifold is warped then and is not tightening down around port one, maybe change the inlet manifold, even so you still should be able to start the car up with the manifold off the car, so it as to be something else stopping it from starting, UBP, fuel rail sensor plug and or its wiring, how much fuel do you have in the car.

hi there is half a tank in it and the guage works.
I had to get it recovered by the rac and it showed four faults
DTC: P3010,Clutch connector
DTC: P1E25,Camshaft position sensor
DTC: P1190,Fuel rail pressure plausibility
DTC: P1260,Pre-fuel pressure control

the boy initially thought it was the camshaft sensor so when i got back to my garage i swapped it over for another one of a running car.
And then that was when i noticed it had the fuel again around number one and two. Still would not start but rac boy checked the pump at the filter head and got soaked in fuel when i turned the key. So there is fuel going up. but he never noticed the fuel on the injectors and to be honest neither did i till i changed the sensor

Yep had the same problem and it was a weeping HP fuel pipe connection.

Found it by mopping the spilt diesel up and then wrapping tissue paper round all the fuel lines. Ran the engine at idle and after a few minutes the weeping connection stained the tissue paper. Tightened the nut and all was well.

If your engine won't start then the leak must be pretty bad, and should show up if you cranked it over for a bit, unless the non starting is coincidental.

Allan.
As above double check the fuel line hoses, in certain areas they can rub through which in turn can leak, check below the fuel filter, then backwards to the bulk head, do you have an UBP ? make sure the fuel unions are tight and not cross threaded a little as I presume you had to loosen these when you swapped over the injectors from your other car.

Hi Allan.
Good news which ones were they can you put up a photo for future use for other members, I would be changing the plastic T joint for brass ones if it was my car.
