Default satnav issues

Hi, I have also just bought my third MG ZT. This one with a slightly frightening lump under the bonnet, with a horse on it!

Having similar problems with the satnav. There is no light on the unit and I am now worried the thing is fried. Although weirdly... the boot and tailplate lights do not work either. (Possibly connected?) Can anyone advise how to test this and what costs are likely to be involved if kaput?

Hi Reebs,

I'd like to see that manual as well, but that link says I don't have the privileges?

Welcome along...get yourself over to http://www.two-sixties.com/ which is the home of V8 owners...

You need to check under the boot floor for signs of water...if not it's more then likely that the battery was disconnected before the satnav shut down

Yes, either of these things could be the cause.
Given its location, it's very close to the side trim strip and this can leak water directly onto the cables and into the back of the unit.

Mine didn't work when I got the car, and removing the bottom cover plate revealed that the pcb tracks had merged into one big rusty/fuzzy mess!
