In the IT trade, we used to have a saying that computer users were divided into two groups - those who regularly back up anything they'd hate to lose, and those who don't. Those in the second group will move to the first at some stage, and the transition is often very painful (having permanently lost their accounts, kid's first birthday photos etc)
