Default Fitting New Carpets

Has anyone ever undertaken this job?

I didn't think it through properly when I ordered new carpets for my tourer...but now can see it may be a very time-consuming task. Removal of seats...centre console...and all sorts. For a man with no tools, no garage, and obviously, little brain, I am struggling to see how to get this done without breaking the bank!

Any salient advice, or even funny comments() gratefully received.

a basic socket set, a screw driver or two, a torx set with a tx 50 in it (which seems to be the most common one out of 3 for the seats), and a little (not a lot) of patience is all you need. For the tools, keep an eye out for Lidl doing their large socket set (you can often get alternatives on ebay. It has everything you need, not just for this, but the whole car (except for long reach torx 25/30 for steering wheel airbag removal).

A day would be all you need, I reckon you could do it on the side of the road with a bit of forethought ................. oh wait

OK, I'm going to bite the bullet and order up a socket set. Initially, to get my carpet laid, and I guess it might prove useful for future little jobs (fitting filters!), but I don't envisage anything major, for one, it is physically impossible for me to clamber around underneath!

So, the question is, what do I need to buy? Any suggestions gratefully acknowledged!

I've changed the carpet on my ZT and it did seem a bit of daunting task to start with, but not actually that bad once you start getting into it. Removing the seats gives you plenty of room to work on the interior then.

Posi-drive and Torx bits were all I used.

The most awkward bit is removing the carpet through one of the rear doors, although if you're not keeping it then easier to cut it half which is what I did (although with a tourer perhaps it will fit through the tailgate?)

I did mine over a weekend because of the weather at the time, but in total time I could have done it in a day.

Probably worth taking pictures as you dismantle it so you can remember the routing of the looms.

Is the carpet brand new (as in unused, new old stock)?

Yes, is brand new, supposedly cut to fit my car, made from best quality fake Italian leather

We shall see, if it ever turns up from China...

do NOT 'prepare' and remove anything from your car just yet.

Is it an actual complete carpet set, or overmats, cut and shaped to fit the majority of the carpet, like THIS?

The Company is called Sravento, https://sravento.com/products/cs
Are you saying these will fit over my existing carpets? That would be a result!

yes! they are not new carpets!

they are overmats. You do not need to remove your interior. there is a video in the link I added, that shows you how it fits in the car.
