This is why I rounded the values to nice numbers as there are many variables (as I stated!). Not wishing to put you on the spot, but would you like to agree or disagree with my nominal value of a total current of 30Amps for 4 seconds? |

And a very merry Christmas to you and all... 1, I have no the slightest idea what that was supposed to mean. 3, Solar chargers struggle inside my dark garage 7. Yes, I thought for years without checking, that it ought to be adequate, but if you check the volts drop between socket and battery, you will find it is quite excessive. Not adequate for recharging a battery within a reasonable time frame. A bit of volts drop will not bother a ciggy lighter, whereas a reduction in applied volts can seriously extend the recharge time. Try it with say a 4amp charger, measure the drop and report back.

Hi there Harry.
All I meant in item one is that the limiting factor for charging lead acid batteries is internal heat generated by charging. Must not get hotter than bath water or H2O losses start to occur.---In the old days you could always add a drop of distilled water through the filler caps.--Nowadays any water losses can't be rectified because the batteries are all sealed except for a tiny vent hole.-- |

My last battery, with a bit of TLC, lasted well over eight years. |
