Default towbar - YMZ000150 - link lead

I've fitted a towbar and now in the process of wiring.

Yes, there are some superb threads on the forum, but I haven't yet come across one with the answer I seek.

As the MGR wiring kit is NLA, I had to use an aftermarket bypass relay (TEB7AS together with the TEC3M). On the TEB7AS there is the capacity for a dashboard light - I assume a 'caravan' light flashing as the indicators are used, similar to my 820.

Now my question is this: I have a low line mk2 saloon, (the one with illuminated symbols) if I fit the link lead kit, in particular the green wire, will the caravan symbol flash as the indicators are used?

If not, what do I have to do to make the caravan light work?

Many thanks in advance, Andy

Are you looking for additional information to the normal indicator lights on the dash ??

I wired up my wife's car with a Ryder power relay.

I checked the system and found the car and caravan indicators all flashed at the same time with the dash lights telling me the everything was working OK.

The caravan light on the dash , either version, is a bulb failure warning and the factory towing relay has an ecu that talks to the lsm which in turns talks to the dash.

I looked in to this when i fit my tevas relay.

The tevas output could be linked to a separate led on the dash or if your brave enough to disassemble the instrument pack you may be able to wire it directly to the caravan light.

I haven't bothered as ill only be pulling a trailer once or twice a year

Correct! You have to run a separate wire from the LSM to the relay to enable this function.

I thought you needed to replace the TEB7AS for the BMW towing relay part number 61.35-8 369 019 as well as adding the link lead to the LSM to get the trailer bulb failure warning light on the instrument cluster to work?

Thats only for the original relay retrofit isnt it? Doesn't work with the aftermarket units?
