There was an article on one of the news channels yesterday from a hospital with nurses and doctors pleading with people to stay at home.

Apart from the shops and pubs being closed it does not feel like a lockdown, locally most businesses are open. Yes I get it that people need to urn a living but why is a car valeting, furniture restorer and bathroom sales business open?

Lockdown should mean just that, only businesses needed so people can live not have there car cleaned or look at the next bathroom suite they are going to have.

Maybe it needs to be more strictly enforced or are the rules to loose?

Surely the first wave gave knowledge to the general population that mixing with anyone other than the young and healthy was putting the others into the risk category. Why humans cannot see certain forms of logic baffles me. After all, 25th December Christmas Day is only a notional date and celebrating Christ's birth can be done on any day.

Excellent precautions Steve. I just wish everyone and every company thought through the whole concept of transmission, It beggars belief that people are getting on TfL services and refusing to wear masks and such is the problem that TfL has had to raise a special task group to check services. So, a nurse takes precautions at work in a, now, dangerous environment but then may catch covid on the bus to or from home.

Sir Captain Tom is now in hospital after testing positive - my best wishes go out to an inspirational chap.

So sad, as reflected on another thread.

Some people are still in "denial". They should be sat in ICU for an hour.

My son lost one of his mates to it yesterday.............that chap lost BOTH his parents to it last week.

Morning all. Last week Fred, I was chatting with an insurance broker who said she doubted that Covid-19 exists and she believes it is a conspiracy. She laughed her head off, when I told her about the punishment beatings dished out to people caught not wearing a mask. I went on to tell her about the Royal Free Hospital where I worked for 20 years, a London teaching hospital, how every bed in its 13 floors is for the Covid patients. I felt I was talking to a brick wall.

No sign of a vaccination programme starting here yet.

I have said before that I could watch a full interview with Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, and Sky news has just done that. Very interesting and informative.

Stay safe and don't assume that when you've had a jab, you're clear. We've still got a way to go.

He was also on GMB this morning and even Piers Morgan shut up and listened without interrupting. !!
