Mr Paul O'Dwyer
G'Day guys Im new to this, I live in west australia and have one of 2 rover75 connoisseur in the state . Privately imported and then I bought it . Its in excelent cond 70000ks but has a screaming fan ( under bonnet) . Its rediculiously noisy and Its one of the few complaints I have about this car. So Im relying on you blokes , my pommy mates to help me keep the rover flag flying in australia. Sedans or Estates were never sold here so there is little knowledge about 75's here. I am aalso having trouble getting a spare key organised. So please help guys......any tech details about the noisy fan will be greatly appreciated. PAUL

Welcome Paul, obviously you are in the right place, but I am not a wizard who can help, but I am sure one will be along soon. Have you taken the bumper off to examine the fan? if you are referring to the cooling fan?

Screaming fan? Are you saying that the fan is actually "screaming", which would indicate that the fan blade is touching its surround or that the motor itself is faulty. If the fan is just running fast and erratically or continuously, this can be due to other problems, such as a failed low speed fan leading to overheating/overcooling cycling. The fan is also linked to air con controls in that the fan automatically kicks in when certain settings are used. Jules on the forum, supplies the "Revotech" fan as an upgrade replacement. Al this info can be further researched by using the forum search function or some points may be found in technical help or "HowTo" sections. Enjoy your Rovering. Mike

I've had a fan scream like a banshee due to a dry shaft bearing, or it might have been a bush - it was a few years ago now.

Hi,probably is the fan,but mine was from the a/c pump when under load.Spin your fan by hand to see if it is the bearing or if the blades are catching on anything.Regards Ry....

Send a PM to forum member genpk (also from Perth) he has Toaf, a diagnostic programme that can read your car eg. test your fan speeds etc. I think he might also be able to help with the key electronics if my memory is correct.
