Default Removing A V8's aircon

The usual way is to buy another special idler pulley from the USA and fit this in place of the compressor, that means degassing removing the comp, and blanking off the pipes.

Or now do it this way ..
No grovelling underneath with this one , all done under the bonnet.

Leaving the compressor in place , or you can still remove it , whatever you fancy.

And easily reversable should we ever crack the aircon foibles

And 2 less idler bearings to worry about .

Buy an 1800 mm serpentine belt LINKY

Then buy a pulley LINKY

Remove the old Belt, and the tensioner and swap the old tensioner pulley with the new ribbed one, you may need to add a washer to make sure the alignment is ok .
As the Belt route is going to be different this pulley swap is just to make the ribbed side of the belt run in a ribbed pulley and not a smooth one , although not that sure it actually would make any difference on a free running tensioner.

You can now remove the 2 other idler pulleys and fixings not now needed.

After checking the tensioner alignment, fit the new shorter belt to a different route like this

All similar to my 260's posting on the subject.

Should work ok even with under drive pulleys.

Chris

Here is the aftermarket ford racing pulley fitted, not the best pic in the world but you get the idea.

I might be missing the point, but why? Aircon is a good thing to have not only in the summer but also in the winter when it helps clear the screen(s) much quicker.

It's a different system on the V8 and it doesn't work too well

And no worry of the compressor seizing, and a few more horsepowers too

The problem with our cars is the system lets hot water thru into the cabin, nothing to do with the AC compressor.

Your heater valve in the plennum is probably kaputt? Buy the Black Olive.
Replace the inner heatervalve with a T-piece and it should work again.

If still warm air, install a shut off valve in the plennum, preferably electric so you easely can open or close it.:-)

Or, just wind down all of the windows at all times (especially in tunnels )
