Default "Bonnet open" light has come on

Hey guys

Was driving along the motorway to work yesterday and the bonnet open light appeared on my display for a second before disappearing and reappearing for another second. It happened three times. Hasn't come on since. The Bonnet is shut properly. Any ideas what caused this? Concerned it may happen again. MK1 75. Thanks. Ravinder.

Its the button the underneath the bonnet, do you see a black grommet when you open it up?

That's the switch for it, sounds like yours his faulty like mine lol.
Nothing to worry about, but can be a pain when it shows up on screen every time lol.

Simply get a small rubber pad, one of those self adhesive ones and stick it on the underside of the bonnet where the switch makes contact.

That would work just as well.

Lift the rubber cover off and give the switch a shot of WD40. Repeat every couple of months.

One other thing. Have you adjusted the bonnet strikers lately? After I adjusted mine, it did this. "Fix" was just to let go from a little more height as it needed more force to close fully.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the responses. No, the bonnet hasn't been adjusted at all. I remembered it was raining hard on the day that it happened. Perhaps that's got something to do with it.....?

It hasn't happened since but will Keep an eye on it.

Still comes on when very windy when driving at high speeds. 140mph plus......
