Default Panic - car in bits - PLEASE help

OK

I have my centre console in bits and my Symphony radio out.

I have no problem with the standard grey and black ISO connectors

BUT - there are also 3 small ISO connectors coloured blue, green and yellow going to the symphony.

Can anybody advise me what to do with those please?

I dis-regarded them and plugged in just the standard ISO connectors and I get no function from my new Alpine.

In addition, there is a small co-ax connector next to the aerial connector, ther purpose of which I have no idea - anybody?

HELP...PLEASE

do they look like this?

On the Hi-Line I was told to let them hang as they are wired up else where.

Just re-read my thread and they are steering wheel controls, but are already wired in somewhere place else, so I left them.

Those are the ones - I have also been told they are the autochanger connectors.

IIRC, the steering wheel control wires are in one of the standard ISO connectors - in fact, I'm sure of that because the autoleads converter for the steering controls fits in line with the standard ISOs

The small ISO connectors are for CD changer - Blue, Fitted telephone - Yellow and Low Line Navigation -Green, the small coax connector is for the aerial diversity - it selects which part of the screen aerial to use for the best signal I don't think it's needed for after market sets.

The steering wheel controls for the Symphony do go through the main ISO plug. It's the later single DIN head units that have the steering controls through the green mini ISO, (like Monk's picture)which can cause confusion.

Thanks both for your help

Ray - I re-connected the Symphony (just the std ISO connectors) and it works fine.

Fuse in the Alpine is OK as well - so it has to be a faulty unit - just my luck

Oh well - car is now back together and I need to pay a visit to the dealer tomorrow

Thanks again for the answers guys

Paul

it's not unknown for the + and the IGN to sometimes need swaping over.

I did wonder about that RIchard, but with the ignition on both supplies should be there anyway

Shamefacedly, I have to report that the problem was all fo my own making

There are two wires in the Alpine loom from the back of the head unit to the ISO connectors which need connecting together but which were tied back on my loom.

The dealer looked at me as though I was mad - connected the wires together and proudly showed me the head unit working perfectly.

Oh well... you live and learn.

Odd! You would have thought there'd have been a mention of it in the book that they need connecting up before first use! Well at least you know now
