But to answer Phils question on wether it's just a matter of plugging in and putting the ipod in the glovebox I'd say maybe. I wired mine though the glove box but as the playlist selection stuff didn't work I kept the ipod in the hole at the bottom of the centre console (with the cable running - visibly - to the glovebox).

A search for "iPod" & "BMW E46" revealed this: (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E46-X3-X5-...dZp1638Q2em124) I think the Connects2 holders look more practical though. Kearton |

Hi Phil,
there is a section on the Apple website about integrating iPods with your car. (http://www.apple.com/ipod/carintegration/) Regards, Kearton |

Hello. its one of my first posts but the search faclity doesnt seem to answer my question.
I dont know what head unit I have in the car. I have a 6 disc autochanger in the glove box and steering wheel controls, but I would like an easy (cheap) way to also connect my Ipod Nano when travelling a good distance. Im not sure i want to lose the CD changer. 2001 Y CDT SE Last edited by Truck-Driver; 4th October 2008 at 23:38.. Reason: Forgot Details |

It is the Symphony, no sat nav.
At least you have identified the head unit for me. Thanks. So will the ipod work with an autochanger too? Back next week to get the answers. Thanks chaps |

Unfortunately not unless you splice in the leads from the adapter to your cd changer harness NOTE YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK NEITHER I OR THE CLUB CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY ALTERING THE LOOM.

Don't know what happened to my previous link, but it is as you say, just an aux adaptor.
Connects 2 did do one that allows control of the iPod. I have one connected to my Symphony. I would expect it's the same as a BMW one since the changer was Kbus controlled. I'll keep digging.... OK, so Dug.... Here's one for Harmony, but the connector could be changed: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/revi...05_p-21301.htm or the correct one for symphony: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...09_p-21303.htm Last edited by Departed; 6th October 2008 at 19:31..
