Afterthought

Sleeping on my driver's door issue, I reckon it's not a great damage nor a great annoyance. I can live with that at the moment. The barrel should stay still within the trim until dislodged and put back in place. I can't hear it even when the car is jumping on a road bumper.

Judging by what happened to ...'s Jag windows I think some more hassles unfortunately are still to be expected from our puckish & fussy cars: window mechanism indeed and latch as well among others (door mirror).

Hence no hurry to solve a minor injury if some major ones may occur within the ongoing year... Let's be cautious & pragmatic shall we?...
Maybe wise to save the price of an intervention if another one in the same place is needed thereafter...
In the meantime let's cross fingers & the like...

At last I've got it!

Not a matter for opening a good bottle of Champagne... however I'm happy on the long run.
Lots of them in English, easy to pick up everywhere, but in French it looks an harder chase. People here do not seem to be interested in keeping old papers. Even when I bought my first-hand Rover 25, it has already disappeared...

Here it is!

I'd forgotten to say that those brochures above were issued in 1999 (the good year as my tyres may say... - sorry I couldn't help me... ) for the Cowley built cars and that oddly it was already the second edition. Maybe a first one even rarer had been done in 1998 for the Birmingham show or the Seville exhibition?

diesel VS petrol

It's incredible to see how successful was diesel appetite in France...
I was looking at some statistics regarding the 75 sold in France in 1999, same year as mine:

- Rover 75 V6 2.5 ________________________ 244
- Rover 75 V6 2.0 ________________________ 184
- Rover 75 1.8 ___________________________ 148
- Rover 75 2.0 Cdt _______________________ 1233

Amazing!

And only 488 Rover 75 V6 2.5 sold in France from 1999 to 2005, i.e. Rover sold as many V6 2.5 in one year only - 1999 - as in a period of 5 years - from 2000 to 2005. Easy to explain.
But not that many V6, and how many now on our roads?
Unfortunately here in France we can't have all these statistics that are so easy to find out in the UK.
I bet 75 V6 2.5 are rather scarce in Croatia, am I wrong @Roverlike?

Hence I'm looking for V6 value 'remontada'!

When touring in a bus within Roma then Napoli as well a few days ago, no ZT or 75 peeped out from the streets.
I should add that with such a saloon you can't have any luck to find any parking place in such places so much crammed & jammed!
Just an Austin/Rover Mini and a 25... You understand why!
Neither in Campania countryside...

Better look by a long chalk

As I'm slightly worried by my greyish flat roof plastic bars, I thought wise to order an appropriate black restorer:

I didn't hesitate too long for I'd been already delighted by their light restorer for both my Rovers. Very good brand indeed.

And once more Turtle Wax did the trick on the 75 as well as on the 25 that has got much more plastic on her.

Result? Brilliant!

Yes, I know, I might have used some other cheaper product, but I wanted something appropriate and not at all approximative.

N.B. the advert says: "French seller, quick sending, satisfied or reimbursed".
Bad luck: as I'm satisfied I shall not be reimbursed!

Fab find

The closer we are to that awful B... dead line, the more I'm concerned with supplies & shipping.
TBH the appalling shipping prices to get stuff from the UK were worrying me long since.
And even some UK sellers weren't keen to sell outside their mainland.

Hence the purpose was to find out a easiest way to get needed parts, especially large or heavy pieces.
As I told previously, professional breakers are not so many here, Rover pieces are harder & harder to get, and used pieces prices are (too) high, much higher than in the UK where you can get lots of bits & pieces from the scrappy for nearly peanuts.

On the other side I've often read here & there some detrimental advices about FB.
I must admit indeed that you may find in that galaxy heaps of nonsense, fake news & preposterous advices & feelings. Quite right.
But sometimes some gems may appear from the mud...

A 75/MG ZT France group that I discovered lately may be one of them and especially among that group of enthusiasts a nice young lad who spends a good part of his time stripping out 75 & ZT in his area which is luckily a bit richer than mine regarding our beloved brands.

As you may be aware of while following this rather long thread, I was looking for a checker assembly front-door (BDH500042, £24 + shipping at Rimmers) to replace mine whose barrel is gone God only knows where.
And BTW an inside driver handle may have been convenient in case mine will be broken while taking off the trim (I don't know yet who's going to do the trick, me or my good mechanic).
And I was keen as well to find that astute warning triangle that can be attached to the saloon bootlid thanks to a special bracket.

And the miracle happened. He found the assembly driver front-door, the handle and icing on the cake he had already got the bracket warning flare but the triangle which was already gone from the stripped donor (how stupid to take off the triangle without its bracket...).
And the whole lot for the princely sum of... 25€ including the 6€ shipping fee! Approx £22 grand total! All that is on its way.

And he is a regular provider to several other guys as well. You may ask: he can deliver nearly anything you need!

Phew! what a relief.
Am I not an happy bunny?

And regarding the warning triangle, I've found one from a Mercedes W203 C class that may be adjusted to fit within the Rover brackets.

About Rover while waiting for the 75 DVD
For those who may be keen to have a try in French, here is an hour of absolute bliss, and even if French looks a hard tablet to swallow, you'll be able to follow the pictures and some interviews in English dubbed in French, courtesy of the Parisian & rather posh BCCRC (British classic cars & Rover club):

https://youtu.be/mK-MfXpfl08

BTW My better half was discreetly suggested to enlighten my birthday to come with the DVD I'd seen a few days ago when looking for the 75 DVD fresh news.
