My speakers are different (as are other members), but the overall size, mounting hole etc are still the same size.

Here are the dimensions of a 6.5" Focal speaker - obviously the magnet is a different size, but it gives you all the mounting holes. It also fits exactly in the standard mount so it should be the same.

The perfect solution would be something that exactly replaces the standard mount - i.e. it holds the speaker in the same place, and at the same distance from the door - too far from the door and it'll hit the door card, and too close to the door and you'll have problems with the speaker trying to go through the weatherseal.

Price wise... well I have no idea how much such a thing would cost to make, so I wouldn't like to geuss - but I'd start the ball rolling with a figure of £30 for a set?
I asked for a rough drawing, but this will also do.
Ok I will take the card off my door in the next few days and get some dimentions, and try to get a mock up to see how it works.

I do think it is one of those projects where the labour/postage will cost more than the material. I will work it all out, wait to see what the response is and get back here asap. Dont want to be taking cards off in the snow now, do we.

You can buy the rings on eBay for £7 for the pair - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-6-5-1...ht_2370wt_1396

(although it would be much MUCH cheaper to make them with a router or something)

It's the modification thats the pain.

These are only 12mm thick, so one would need 3 sets to make them work, we also need a diameter bigger than 170mm. Suns out, now would be a good time to start one.

Like I said - very expensive for what they are (considering you can buy a SHEET of 18mm MDF for £18), especially considering how easy they'd be to make with a router (...or bodge with a jigsaw). I was just showing that thee is already a product on the market members could send to you for "adaptation".

Why do we need them to be bigger than 170mm?

I'm in for a set of fronts when this is sorted. I have the rings already but after posting them on it's probably better to start afresh as the cost is in the labour.

Have not checked any sizes at all, got the 190mm from the How to, on here, but that will have to be checked. According to that post it was 2 pieces of 18mm ? also to be checked, but certainly no problem.

I popped out side, and without measuring or working to any scale in particular, I made the following up, so it can be done.

I will get some MDF and do some playing...

I'd be interested in a full set too.
Looking into upgrading the speakers after buying one of those Clarion SRV313's

If it can be done not only would it be great....I think you'd have lots of orders!!

Cheers

Paul
