Personally speaking, I couldn't be forced into a manuel R40, although the 190 I ran was alright. Two pedals all the way for me.

The autobox adds an essential touch of luxury to ones car dontcha think..

Manuals are more economic and .... ummmm.....erm... hmmm.. Well that's it innit.

I don't think it causes any noticable fuel consumption issues either.

A few years ago, I was regularly jumping between a 75 1.8, a ZT190 and a 2.5Auto. It was always a pleasure and a relief to get into the auto. It just added a lovely 'waft' factor. You can go just as quick too, with a lot less effort.

Hi Ian nice looking early 75 here low miles lovely colour 2.5 v6 though you did say you prefered a petrol.
