Locking nut key....help!
i have a flat tyre and the locking wheel nut key seems damaged and slips when put under a certian amount of force.
The MG dealer says there should a number on the key so he can order a replacement. There isn't! Any ideas? BTW it's a MG- ZT-T 260 with the standard alloys for the 260. |

If this is the regular splined effort the number is almost certainly 12 and should be stamped on the top. I gave my last one away so can't help I'm afraid. Can you post a picture of your key?

Hi VX Man,
Grey Gost gave his key to us and that number is indeed 12. We also have a plastic wheel nut cover in stock for you. If this would be any help for you, PM us and we send them for you for free (as GG also did to us). Here's some piccys. Regards Ralph & Monique Last edited by Monique; 30th June 2007 at 12:04.. |

Thanks for your replys chaps but this is the wheel nut key. I believe the 260 has a different type to the others...it looks like it.

If the problem is getting them off I can recommend these reverse socket things, haven't had to use them on my 75 but took about 5 seconds on my mates 45 alas I don't have them any more otherwise I would gladly borrow you them.

If it's the locking key that's bust, you'll need the 8 digit code to get another one. You should have a McGard certificate as shown in my photo above. Go here for more details:
http://mcgard-europe.de/englisch/slbolzen.htm If the bolt head itself has fractured, you'll need more drastic measures as suggested above. Note however, that this bolt may have the Thatcham approved anti-theft collar, which may render any socket type extractor ineffective. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 1st July 2007 at 00:31.. |
