Default What is this disconnected pipe?

Just bought a 2002 75 for £80
Had a look under the bonnet, can someone identify what this pipe is? It's close to the battery box and seems to be disconnected from something.
Also, is 600-650RPM a normal idle rev range for this car? Seems a bit juddery. Its an auto
Thanks.

It looks like the pipe that goes to the inlet manifold, where the screw is above the throttle cable that has been used as a bung

Revs usually about 750 rpm.

That pipe looks like it might have been fitted as an extra drain to the plenum chamber---------------------------maybe..

Could having it disconnected cause any adverse effects?
Also what do you think could be causing the revs to be as low as they are? The needle bounces up and down a lot between 600-700rpm

If it turned out to be a disconnected vacuum hose it could affect the tickover.

What sort of reply is that, OP may be saving a car from being scrapped and is aware that buying a car for £80 will need loads of work, hence hes asking on here for advice.

Im sure the OP will find your reply friendly and helpful.

Its the purge valve pipework which has snapped off the inlet manifold and as sworks says the inlet manifold has had a screw put in to stop air leaks.

The only thing that needed doing was the head gasket, and I just had that done for £200

Just got to figure out the cause of the low revs now
