Car dies after 4 miles, starts again when cold
Hi all,
My 1.8T tourer is having problems. After driving about 4 miles the engine dies and will not start straight away. If I leave it to cool it will start and run for another 4 miles but if I manage to get it to start while hot it will only go about 200-300 yards before dying again. When it starts again while hot the revs are all over the place when you put the accelerator pedal down as if it is trying to cut out. When it is cold it revs smoothly. I have checked the fuel filter and that is OK. What do you suggest I try next? |

It sounds like one of those positional sensors to me.

Crankshaft sensor maybe. Heat makes the sensor play up but it works well again when it cools.
