HELP! Airbag electronic control unit Rover 75 estate
I have a 10 year old Rover 75 estate in immaculate condition which urgently requires an airbag electronic control unit product no. YWJ 000220. So far our garage and searches on the internet have failed to find this part which is needed to get through the MOT. Has anyone any ideas where this product can be found?- it has to be this serial no.
Many thanks. Antony Hill |

I'm pretty sure that it isn't plug'n'play either. A T4 session will be required to inform the new ECO of which air-bags are fitted.

Airbag Electronic control Unit
Thanks for suggesting Rimmers. We have already contacted them and no luck for this serial no. Diagnostic came up on panel saying airbag fault and we don't know what it is without the part. We've had to take it off the road as tax year has ended. Apart from that, it's in mint condition and had just been serviced!

Hello Antony's wife, are the airbag symbols lit up on the display if so, just tell him to unplug the connectors under the front seats a few times, & smear some vaseline on the contacts. HTH's

How do you know the ECU is faulty, is it from a diagnostics machine or is this just based on the airbag light coming on? If airbag light illuminatiing on dash do as Ronnie says in post #7
If diagnostics machine has identified the fault, then you need to take a close look at the crash sensor in each of the footwells first. They maybe submerged in dampness from a water logged carpet. I would look at these first before jumping to diagnosing ECU fault. Quite easy to see if water damaged or not, but you will have to remove both front seats to access them. make sure you use the correct bit to remove the seat screws, as a rounded of one is a pain to remove, and ensure seat belt harness hieght wire is engaged fully on the seat frame. This link may help show whats under the carpet, crash sensors changed position at a certain point of manufacture I believe so it may be slightly different from the pictures. The airbag ECU is just under the handbrake lever. in the first link the driver side crash sensor is coloured green and is mounted to the rear crossbrace of the driver seat, adjacent to the seatbelt hieght cable (white cable) http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...3&postcount=10 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=55862 Last edited by Lovel; 3rd June 2014 at 13:55.. |

I had a read on an estonian Mitsubishi club forum the other day and what I noticed was that some guys had rendered their SRS DCU unusable after unplugging the seat connectors or unscrewing the DCU with battery still connected. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's still better to be safe than to regret later.

If you disconnect the battery, you will reset all the radio codes/ECU memories etc.
Simpler to just pull the SRS fuse (F18) from the PAX compartment fusebox and wait 30 minutes |
