Default MG ZT/ZTT v8

Was there ever any of the Mk1 ZT or ZTT V8s ever produced in Trophy Blue? And what was the difference in the engines to produce 400 or 530 over the standard 260

no idea about a trophy blue one but the engines producing 400 bhp are supercharged

Not sure how many saloons were made, but there was only 1 Trophy Blue ZT-T produced apparently!

As far as power is concerned the very few "400's" that were produced, actually developed 385 bhp with the addition of a Roush Supercharger.

Most Supercharger fits are either by Dreadnought or own builds with the fitment of a Kenne Bell Supercharger and most produce in the low to mid 400's horse power wise.

The 530 you mention, was a one off and used a different version of the V8 Modular V8, which I believe was both 5.0 Litre and 32 valve, which is physically too wide to fit the standard road car!

Default ZT520 Lump

Paul Lutti's racing ZT V8 had the 32 valve V8 developed I think by Sean Hyland in Canada. That gave out 520 bhp.

Roughly 6 Trophy Blue MKI that I can find. 2 of those are ZT-T
There might be a few more as not all are known on the 260-ties.

As others have said, the difference is a S/C. MG only made a few prototypes with the Roush (385)and at least 1 ZT-T was sold by SMC. No saloons were ever sold with the Roush IFAIK. The other S/C is an aftermarket Kenne Bell (400) conversion developed by Sean Hyland and Brian. Expensive but trusted option.

Some owners fitted the Roush themselves, some owners fitted the Kenne Bell. In both cases the success depends on the quality of the mapping.

I have a mk1 saloon in TB with a Dreadnought S/C fitted, and just recently hit the 100k figure, and without looking at any paperwork I think its approaching best part of 9 years since the installation and has never missed a beat apart from one failed injector which I think is pretty good considering the 78k smiles its done with the blower on.

Don't know the exact numbers but believe about 6 or 7 saloons and 1 tourer in Mk1 form,so yes there are some.

I have one of the saloons and can think of 3 other saloons and 1 tourer in the Two-Sixties.

The 600 has since been dismantled (at least engine wise), I remember the engine being for sale. And from what I hear it was a pig of a conversion.

I have seen 1 V8 ZT-T in TB not for a while though, I think it moved south.
