CDT not firing.
Hello, After not using my car for a while, I wanted to go to shop, the car started ran for a hundred yards and then cut out. It turns over but no start. The u/b pump is whirring and I have a half tank of diesel. Any advice please?. Thanks, John.

When you say not used for a while how long? and are the plenums dry, any tide marks on the pollen filter. Give the UBP and good tap and see if it starts, try starting it on a whiff of engine start, only a little and only once. Also remove the wiring plug off the top of the UBP and spray it with contact cleaner, push it on& off a few times see if it starts. After the above go to leak back test using the kit below, or make one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383210364211 Four bic biro's 1 2 6mm tubing. 3 4 They will work the same as what is in the kit. 5 Can you hear your ITP best way to do this is again unplug the UBP turn ignition to II and listen to the ITP via the fuel filler or by the back seat. After the above you need to get diagnostics done with T4 if not do that at first to save any guessing about.

Whip the outlet pipe from the UBP off where it enters the fuel filter and place the end in a large jar. With key to position II you should get a good strong flow of fuel with no air in it for 30 seconds to a minute, depending on which ECM is fitted.

Hello, Many thanks for the help, my wife told me to use the AA as I paying for it. After twenty minutes a very nice mechanic came. He checked the ubp for fuel supply, it was very strong. He unplugged an injector and said it has a problem. After phoning several garages, who didn't want to know, he found one in Widnes. he towed it up there, and said " the injectors are not switching". So, now I wait. Again, thanks for all help and advice.

Expect a big bill from the garage, they will most likely want to change out one or two injectors, or they will say that you need a new ECM leys hope i'm wrong.

There used to be a Rover garage in Widnes - hopefully if it is still going then that will be the place the car has gone to.
If not then as mentioned, get it to someone who knows these cars or it could get expensive. |

Hello Folks, I got my car back this afternoon, the garage says the fault was a faulty EC Relay, they couldn't source another relay so used my Cf Relay. The car runs fine but I have no cooling fan. I need to source a CF Relay, any ideas anyone?. Thanks, John.
