Default Rear steering wheel cover

Hi Guys

I just received a replacement steering wheel for my Rover 75...its the wood/leather wheel....

Will I was wondering has anyone changed the rear cover of the steering wheel, as I have cruise control on my car and the new SW I do not. So I have two choices.....

1: switch over the rear cover of the steering wheels...

or

2: Cut out the area required for the cruise control on the replacement wheel.

Regards

Yep, both easy to do, depends which way you want to go!

I too have done both. Cutting is probably easier as working the internal shake proof washers off is quite tedious but possible

Easiest way to remove those is to get a deep socket, slightly smaller than the plastic boss then hit the socket hard with a hammer and it will push the plastic boss out.

I spent ages working the washers up the "shaft" to remove them.

Next time I need to fit cruise control switches I cut the trim the switches fit into.

I trimmed the existing plastic back with a Dremil when I did mine.

Your post might be very timely.

I am about to do the opposite. I have bought a wood / leather wheel which has already been cut to accommodate Cruise Control, which I don't have on my 1.8 (none of them did)

If your wheel is the grey one (smokestone) would a swap be of interest to you.

Just re-read you're post. No point as you can do the swap, between your own two wheels
Regards

Mike

Disconnect battery and go make a cup of tea for 20mins. Then insert torx driver into back of wheel to remove airbag (can't remember size atm)
Disconnect the yellow plug, being careful not to let the spring unwind. Then you can remove the nut holding the wheel.
