Default Help, how to reassemle front struts resolved

ched has come over, we have his strut apart but cannot fit the top bearing and nut. The damper seems to retract into the bottom park that fits into the hub and so the thread for the nut does not come through the spring far enough. Springs are well and truly compressed

any advice please?

Long nosed mole grips are your friend when doing this job

Too late if not fitted prior to letting the top mount off, but well worth the few quid to prevent it going wrong in the first place, and lessens the risk of damage to the machined and coated damper by using grips to stop piston retracting.
