Fitting Hi line
Hi all
I want to fit a high line unit that I have bought quite cheaply, I have all of the parts needed and I know where most of it goes etc from various threads and my own observations but i'm unsure about the following and your help would be greatly appreciated. Firstly can I connect this to this or do I need an adapter? The connection on the car is to the right of the second picture

Can just plug this in without the removal of the original connections to the screen?

Is it possible to just solder this to the rear screen and if so where? Also I have seen on other threads a wire is connected to the left of the aerial wire. I don't think I have this, is it already in the car somewhere?

And lastly. I have to modify the sat nav holder and I want to put the cd unit in the boot. I already have a cd unit holder bracket so can I just turn the sat nav holder upside down and bolt it on? With a little modifying, remove welded screws etc.
I'm not sure about this as the sat nav will not be high enough no miss anything that's in the boot if it moves about.

I will try and help you on this, im no expert but have done afew in my time.
Obviously you have a later car, Ideally for the sat nav loom etc you need the diversty aerial (The big long thing with the 4 grey wires that goes on the rear windows), the other goes on the drivers side panel and thats the TV aerieal. You will nodoubt not have the connectors on the rear screen already. Not only do you need to connect the large BMW socket up but there is a smaller 4 pin one with only two wires on that the later cars dont have and this does the ABS/Speed Sensor to the sat nav unit. As for mounting the cd auto changer in the boot. Not really as that goes where the sat nav computer would go. It mounts in the spare wheel well with the radio tuner and tv tuner. I have a feeling you have gone into this with the best will in the world but not alot of knowledge and I dont think you have a full kit by the sounds of it. Also the black plug with the orange wires is for an external speaker, either the low line setup or the car phone kit that never happened but it remains unpluged in the high line setup. |

Your first picture shows the BMW radio connector, just disconnect the plug in the second picture and plug in your Hi Line system.
