I certainly would not buy a 407 my brother in law bought a low mileage 20500 on the clock top of the range peugeot 407 . At the same time I bought my low mileage C.D.T.I conni with 12,000 on the clock. In over just 1 year of both towing caravans etc we compared how the cars performed etc. Towing the 407 laboured even mystified oil leak under pressure . M.O.T .s 407 ABS sensors needed replacing with bearings £500 . Tyre pressure sensors £76 a time .He now has a problem with box ! . Hi words the worst load of c--p he has ever owned mileage approx 100 miles a week. My Rover 75 M.O.Ts and running costs a bulb for the number plate light serviced myself. Mileage 500 a week and not a missed beat Regards Alan

That is about right. 2 reliable makes. If I were you I would do what I did a few months ago. Buy a 2005 CDTi tourer with asmuch on it as pos. Puting things on retro is always a bit of a bind and usually expensive. If you buy one with all the extras already on it you won´t have to pay so much as trying to put them on afterwards. The car I have now is the best everyday car I´ve had. Had my licence since 1971 and gone through over 20 cars. As I live in Sweden there have been quite a few Volvos and the odd SAAB. Volvos are very reliable but bland (appologies to Bosse Kruger my good friend who is one of the chief designers for their interiors!). Both companies suffered from being bought up by the yanks. Had a few BMWs which are okay but no soul in them and when they go wrong then you need to win the lottery! The best made car I´ve ever had was a Lexus LS400 - but not really anything to look at from the outside. Take your time and wait for the right one. I´ve been looking at them since looking ´round the showroom in Tamworth April 2005. I didn´t like the facelift front at first but it has grown on me. You can see where Audi had been snooping before they came out with thier latest front. If you want a hand with the specs let me know:lol:Alan |

Could always do something different. Really great mainland gb company called Rayvern hydrolics specialises in air suspension systems on all makes of cars using a combination of replacement shocks and air bags. Very good stuff, basic kits are around 800-1200 depending what you want but they pride themselves on your car handling just as good as from before until after with small install space lost (and we are talking parts that are often able to be hidden behind panels etc)
Combine that with a MG ZT mk2 estate, and you would have an estate thats perfectly practical, infinatly suited for any terrain and towing purpose also. |

Well I was going to be stupid and buy the Peugeot 407sw as I really like the shape and my lovely wife loves the glass roof, I went back for another look and still couldn't bring myself to part with my 75, I read on a Peugeot forum (who weren't half as friendly as us on here) that a guy was over the moon that his diessel had just clocked up 72K miles, some of the horror stories on there sent a cold shiver down my spine, I was so close to signing on the dotted line!!!
So now I'm trying to talk myself out of 160mile round trip to view an 05plate zt-tcdti in the gorgeous grey colour that they do, needless to say the forth mentioned lovely wife tutted and raised her eye brows!!!!!
