Default At least I discovered what that BANG was...

Rear spring, was stationary at the time. The ride height & handling are not compromised. Luckily it's at the bottom & still driveable.

If I'd not heard it go I wouldn't have known until the next service/MoT

Cue Stocktake................

Am I right in thinking this is the first ZT spring breakage that has been discovered?

Just what I was thinking, Simon. I bought protectors for the front but haven't had them fitted as 1. No holes pre-drilled and 2. Didn't think ZTs need them.
Rear springs - ZTs beware

Didn't Lates tourer have to have new springs? Or was that dampers?

I've just discovered the front O/S spring on my 75 saloon has let go. Don't know how long it has been like it and again, the handling of the car not effected.

We've been lucky, as other members have had shreaded tyres as a result of this (gulp!)

Regards

I had front drivers side spring fail 3 weeks ago now. It had cracked at the top during the night I'm guessing, as there had been no signs before I got in the car one morning, and heard an almighty noise, and met a level of resistance to reversing of the drive, then the spring went through the tyre!
The car was so low I struggled to get the jack underneath...
Replacement spring from local motor factors was just £31, and a friend armed with 2x spring compressors helped me remove the broken and fit the replacement, so a low cost repair.
I just feel fortunate the spring didnt ultimately fail and puncture the tyre whilst at motorway speed.
