coolant temp gauge slightly low
Hi,
my cdti has already had the inline thermostat added but just today I noticed that the temp gauge is not exactly at the 2100 position. Its not far off mind, about 2030. Have the inline thermostats been known to fail? thanks Ian |

Checked this evening, It was max 75c, averaging about 72c over a 30 mile drive

If the temperature has 'always' been there but you hadn't really noticed it before, then I reckon the in-line stat isn't the recommended type. It needs to be water-tight when closed otherwise the bleed-by will lmit what temperature the engine will attain. I'd suggest replacing it with one made by First Line, Gates or Mahler. These have been shown to perform best because there's little if any bleed-by.
