Default Dizzle fails it 15 th MOT

.. @ 150k miles

Lower OS ball joint ...... this whole corner been a pain in my butt ever since a lot of it was replaced unnecessarily by an Insurance nominated Garage.
this new will be the 4th on that corner , NS is still the OEM ..

And this failed one is a Quintin hazel jobbee..
but with a usual useless timed warranty. (2yrs)

Thought the new rear bushes might be a prob as they are the large slot ones , but no mention .

I feel your pain, the sad fact is that 80% of aftermarket parts now seem to be cheap rubbish that might last 10,000 miles (if you're lucky). If Corteco should stop making crankshaft pulley's for the M47 most of them are scrap as one example.

I got bored chasing bangs and knocks round the front suspension of mine so it's on the drive and SORN'd for the moment and I suspect it's next trip will be on the back of a truck I like it a lot but if it's not reliable it's no use to me.

I fitted a pair of lower arms to a 3 series BMW, purchased from a good source. I fitted them a month before the cars MOT and it passed with no advises. The following year I did not even look at the arms knowing they were only 13 months old.

It failed its MOT on the arms as there was so much play in them. The car had travelled less than 6k miles. Not warranty as they were over 12 months old.

The problem is genuine BMW arms are over £350 each and the pattern parts are about £100 each. How can you justify spending £700 on a 15 year old car?

Better the devil you know. Who's to say for example it's 4 year old replacement won't turn out to be an absolute shocker?

Once again with these lower front arms, lift the rubber caps and add some extra grease, hopefully then they will last a lot longer.

Of course the reason that the genuine BMW ones cost £350 each is that they will last 15 years.

My Omega will be 19 years of age next week and has 140k miles on the clock. All the suspensions parts are original except the rear track control arms which were replaced 2 years ago. I went for the OEM Lemforder items as I knew that they would outlast the car.

The steering outer tie rods were replaced by the garage 4 years ago with pattern parts and one of the rubber boots now has a crack. It will get an advisory tomorrow and then I will then have both sides replaced with Lemforders which will outlast the car.

Given the cost of labour and the hassle, I hate the cheap pattern parts where rubber components only past about 2 years.

I tend to try to buy the best thats available ..

as we don't have the luxury of Original parts

so QH/lemforder/meyle etc. but thats not working!

the unipart line seems to have vanished .

Best not to mention Reamers .. as their stuff started all this !.

Trying to find a stockist for Meyle HD parts as these have a 4 year warranty about the longest I can find ,
