Removed the radio from the ZT, disassembled it and fitted a female USB A flying lead direct to the PCB.

No need to have a lead hanging out of the front now, and I've refitted it to the car albeit temporarily, as I'm waiting for my chassis mount USB socket to arrive, but the test run was a complete success.

Yesterday fitted new rear dampers and adjusted the handbrake, today cut a hole for an access panel to the rear light cluster.

Re-visited the handbrake adjustment today as I was not pleased with the adjustment on the 11th April.

So I took the drum disc off and cleaned out the drum, and the around the shoes of dust, also painted the back plate, re-fitted them adjusted again and all was as it should be holding on first click with third click rock solid, then later gave the NUK a good wash, also cleaned inside. MOT 09.30am in the morning.

Took at overhauling the front brakes on the tourer to
- Investigate the pulsing brake pedal.....(not the pulsing grouchy noise associated with abs / sensor failure).
- check condition of pads
- see if I could wire brush the rust off the discs.
Started with the front o/s.
Caliper carrier removed for a much needed clean.
Tried for 30 mins to carefully remove the disc torx screw, hammering the rear of the socket via the breaker bar as I applied pressure, but it was so tight, I inevitably ended up mashing it.😡
Moved to n/s.
Caliper carrier was also in need of a good clean, but at least (I think) I found out why the brakes were pulsing.
One of the pads had separated from the backing material. Could still see the pagid manufacturers stamp on it.🤔

Moved back to the stubborn torx screw on the o/s, which finally gave after an hour of hammering with various substitutes for a good chisel.😳
Although I wire brushed the discs with the drill, they were still not great looking, so opted for replacement, as I’d need new pads anyway. Also ordered discs and pads for the rear, as I’m sure they’ll be no better.
Now waiting for parts....and a few spare torx screws, and red rubber grease for the caliper pins.🙄

Ordered some rose joints for the silver saloon, which is having rear arms replaced by trusty mechanic.

Cleaned the duo tone.

Then had to do what I should have been doing in the first place...😬
- replaced outside light bulb
- Unblocked the septic tank that had started to overflow 😳

Early start today, took the wife to work, walked the dog, then I decided to take advantage of the sunshine, so.............

I refitted the rear screen trim, which has been tucked up in the rafters of the garage for a couple of months.

On to the front, I took the airline and blew out the dried leaves from the hevac air intake and fan, then fitted a new pollen filter.

After vacuuming the plenum chamber, I removed the fitted ECM from test, took my original ECM from the glovebox, then fitted it into the plastic housing, as opposed to the usual dog poo bag of temporary nature as per the past five years.

I then fitted the plenum covers and the scuttle popper clips, my goodness my test rig is having a break

Now enjoying a bucket of coffee

Default Mot day

I got up at 6.30am had the usual two rounds of toast and a nice cup of coffee after my shower.

I then went over the car checking all the lights, tyre pressures, window wipers, seats belts and the like even though I did it a few days ago, had another cup of coffee then set out on my 25 mile Italian tune up before arriving at my MOT station at 09.40.

Handed the keys over and off I went for a 45 minute walk, came back was handed the keys back along with my new MOT for 2021 so good start to the day.

Stay safe out there guys all the best Arctic.

Got the old girl out and hosed and cleaned under the arches, sills etc. 3 more weeks to wait for the painted parts to breath or whatever they do, then I will be using Alan's kit to clay and polish! All this time and no cash to spend or I'd be able to get so much done!!!!

Default tighten her up

Lovely day and first one with no work because of you know what. I like it but wife might be ready to kill me if this goes on after friday .
Had them sitting for a while so changed the engine tie bar bushes for poly ones also did the hydramount, broke my filter strap undoing it.
While i was lying underneath gazing at the lovely kv6 noticed a sensor hanging down behind the lower grill. It mounted behind the grill at the lower o/s edge of the number plate wondering what it does.
Waiting for Jules plenum guard so hopefully get that done this week.
