It'll never happen, the people of this country are happy to complain to their mates in the pub about
financial injustice but when it comes to standing together and rejecting it we just can't be bothered.
We are not like the French,we just suck it up and accept Rip Off Britain.

You have put it just right. The people in this country are all ‘well, what can you do?? Typical reaction from what i term idle thinking people. It’s all to much trouble to get off your ass and kick someone else’s. All talk and no action, then moan about someone else getting something done that you don’t have any feelings for. The English malaise.

I recently tried to sell 2 cars on Autotrader; my recently emigrated daughter's near immaculate 2011 Polo 1.4 Match - a very nice car all around, with, you would think, a wide market appeal (admit it, our 75/ZTs are a bit specialist). At the same time, I advertised my 2003, Mk1 Megane Convertible, again in good condition for its year, nice and easy to drive but definitely a smaller market. In 2weeks, the Polo received only 25 views, the Megane had over 250 views in 4 weeks, and 1 local lady came to see both cars, drove both, which reminded her why she was really looking for another automatic (bad hip). The Polo was on for thousands, the Renault for hundreds of £. Which tells me that people are looking for cheap cars ( or cheap deposits on new cars). Classic cars are a hobby for people with spare cash. Our cars are classics for people with not a lot of cash, and many in this demographic are struggling for money, or worried about the future at present. Those who can afford true classics, on the other hand, are not struggling so much. I bought my CDT for under £1K, as a reliable comfortable, long distance daily commuter. It has not let me down, but it does seem to require more maintenance hours, and parts than any car I have previously owned, many due to bad engineering design, and many jobs on it seem unnecessarily difficult and complex, and aftermarket parts are a gamble. So not really a cheap "get you by" runabout. And only the very best, high spec, and unique examples are likely to find the classic collector for whom cash is not a problem.

It never ceases to amaze me that sellers get so upset because nobody has snatched their hand off and they seem to take it quite personally.

Whilst it is natural to be disappointed, hasn't it struck people that it might be nothing to do with price or condition but more to do with the fact that no one on this forum wants that particular car at the time that they are trying to sell it?

There might be someone who has been looking for exactly the car being sold but don't have any spare cash at the time, someone else may love to have it but already have 3 other Rovers or other cars and can't justify or accommodate another car.

It may not be in the spec or fuel derivative that the small amount of people at any one time are looking for.

It may not be in the colour or not have a sunroof that an eager buyer has been looking for for weeks.

It might be in a distant part of the country and a potential buyer doesn't wish to travel that far.

It could be that a suitable potential buyer has bought another car just a week or two previously and may well be kicking themselves that they had just bought but would have preferred the new one on offer but it's now too late.

It could be any reasonable reason amongst dozens that the fairly limited number of people at any one time on this forum might be considering that rules 'this particular one out'.

Again some sellers (not this one) almost sound aggressive in their rhetorical comments after no one has come forward to snap their hand off to buy their car, even one at a very reasonable price and condition.

And I think those who do get a touch narky have a real cheek in virtually trying to make others feel bad even though we're already fixed up with our own cars.

I think that some people need to chill out and accept that theres nothing wrong with their car or the price advertised but that there just isn't anyone on the forum who wishes to buy it at that time. Another time it might fly off the shelf.

It's just pot luck but no reason to get narky about it and wrong of failed sellers to harp on trying to make others who are just minding their own business feel bad for some bizarre reason.

There almost seems to be a presumed right that someone off the forum must buy a car for sale in the members section simply because it's a Rover 75 forum.

Well it doesn't work like that, never did and never will.

there is also the rubbish advert that some seem to put in the for sale section. Rover 75 for sale, that's about all you learn from the advert. They cant be bothered to say if saloon or Tourer. Those cars I would not bother with.
