Anti roll bar won't go on (rear) - help asap please

You can see from your picture that if the trailing arm and arb are pushed and rotated upwards, they will meet easily. With the hub on, you can simply jack them both into place, and refit the shocker bolt at the same time. It doesn't require the full weight of the car taking on the jack, so no danger of lifting it off stands.

Yes, I'll try it this way. Hopefully there's enough ground clearance to get both jacks under the hubs - one jack is quite high even when it's in the fully lowered position.

Sorry I did not realise the damper was not fitted in my previous reply.
Do put the car on 4 wheels before torqueing up the bolts etc

I did wonder about the damper (neither are on at the moment) - I'll try and get both of them on when the rain stops.

I got both backplates and one hub on yesterday before the rain. As soon as it's stopped I'll get the other hub and both dampers on.

Handbrake cables aren't connected at the hubs yet - I'll do that when the rain stops. The shoes will be miles out of adjustment because they're new, plus I decided now would be a good time to fit a stainless steel compensator.

Just replaced my rear springs, no ARB to worry about, Rover must have stopped fitting a rear one around 2003.

Looking at the image, you could get away with the scissor jack (carefully) with a small piece of wood on it to both maintain contact with the hub, and to stop it slipping off as it arcs upwards. But you only need to lift it about an inch or so if I recall.

I recommend the use a trolley jack as my hub did indeed as CLF suggests, it slipped off a scissor jack.

The roll bar is now on. The dampers were the key - as soon as they were on everything lined up nicely. Hoorah!

Btw, the trolley jacks just went under the trailing arms (only just) with a small bit of wood between each arm and each jack.
