Well done Mat... but one has to wonder what will happen in the future, I know for me, unless a lotto wins comes along, having mine repaired, or new ones remanufactured will be out of my reach....
I would stock up on a pair, but then how many Garages get cleared by their relatives and bin the lot should something happen to me before I ever needed to fit them, have seen this happen with my own relatives because they do not know what the parts are or what for....
If it looks like these parts, which are critical, are going to become scarce, I suspect many more of our cars will find the scrapyards quicker.... Mine being just 10years old now, were well rusty... have painted them with Hammerite, and pre painted them with a Kurust product.. but what I found with my 214 front crossmember when it failed an MOT, was there was a small 50p size hole on the outside, and signs of rust, but Rusted so badly inside.. rusted from the inside out.... common failure as well.

So much wanted to be keeping my tourer for life... but the rate at which the parts are vanishing, and what I have had to spend just this year alone, new shocks, springs, discs and pads all round, exhaust, tyres, etc.. is starting to affect my budget to the point I am now questioning whether I should continue with the spending, or go for something newer.... have seen a few Insignias lately for £3995..... less than 5 years old....and as Vauxhall are still trading I doubt parts would become so stupidly high priced... but who knows...

Arghhh the dilemma......

I've been thinking along similar lines in the past, but you only have to look at cars like older Triumphs and Austins and see that you can still get every part - someone will always make sure the essentials are around in one form or another.

The current batch will be the end of the production items, so when they're gone we'll hopefully have some made up by a fabrication firm. If that's not possible, we'll organise a used arm refurbishing system.

With the sheer amount of 75s and ZTs left at the moment, it's not time to pick up that Vauxhall brochure just yet...

I have no idea - seems like they've just stopped as production has.
UK production stopped some time ago from what I can gather - these were unavailable for quite a long time before they became available again.

Mat,

You could always offer to buy the tooling off them!

Tom.

I need to find out who makes them first, but it's certainly an option.
