My tourer has them but to be honest I don't use them - apart from the occasional prod to check that they're still working and free.
I know the idea is that they fold to avoid damage but if (when?) they do get caught then they're more expensive to repair. I'd rather lose a cheap non folding mirror than gouge the bodywork... Plus I have an aversion to taking the door cards off due to the fragility of the door handle trims...

Not the easiest job I’ve ever tackled – actually, a couple of sainted guys at a Midland Nano Meet did a lot of it for me.
First of all, you have to buy mirrors and the switch, which won’t be cheap, even second hand. If you do get 2nd hand, make sure all the little bits and pieces (gaskets, nuts, bolts etc) are there. Take the doors off. Some people reckon they can do it without doing this, but I certainly couldn't. This is a 2-man job. Fit the mirrors to the doors (can’t remember if you have to take the door cards off – which is in itself a bit of a laugh) but it will at the very least be difficult if you don’t. Don’t know how old your car is – it would seem that the older the better, in this case, as they stopped fitting the cross-body loom that takes the signal to the n/s mirror at some stage. Mine didn’t have it, and it’s quite a job to get the loom across the car from scratch – particularly getting it through the rubber gaiters that the door loom goes through into the bodywork. You only need 2 wires for this – if you search the forum, you’ll find which door wires you need to connect them to. As a fairly naïve user, having been through all the pitfalls, I’m very happy to help if I can

It isn't a seperate plug, pop the driver's door switchpack out. Have a look at the larger of the two plugs, if all positions are populated the door looms are there, if there are two vacant positions you'll need to either make up the in door wiring or source a pair of powerfold door looms.
