Interesting. I wonder if it's possible to convert "our" Win CE units to Android using that link? I'm certainly not going to try - just idly curious.

You have to set up the SD Card as per the instructions from Radio guy but instead of using the Official update use the Custom one.

When going through the update don't select the 160dpi option unless you like small icons and on the page with the Bluetooth and MCU option I only updated the Bluetooth and NOT the MCU as this can Brick the Unit if it goes wrong....
This looks mighty interesting. In fact I think you should start your own thread telling us exactly how you did it and how the new FW behaves in everyday live.

I am more than eager to update the unit with the Kotix FW but uncertain as to how to proceed exactly.

Can you tell us more (in your own thread ) about the differences from stock FW?

Looking forward!

Not wishing to sound like a nervous Norman but I would urge caution when flashing anything other than an official firmware release.

At least one of Sean's customers has already bricked his unit by trying to root it.

Just saying...

The risk is always there that something can go wrong. But I have to admit that this was pretty simple and seems to work better than the official fw :-) however it's up to each individual if they are prepared to do it or not ;-)

A How-to would be more than welcome I would appreciate having a step-by-step from someone who has succesfully upgraded/replaced the firmware.

The full check would also help me deciding to change FW or not

TIA!

I was the one that posted the link but it was meant for Sean and Jeff just to check out the best way to get back to the original android 2.3.4 version if you didn't like the lastest update, it was not intended to provide anyone with a new firmware.
But if you decide to go ahead and try it that is down to the individual.
If it bricks the HU it's the individuals own fault.
I accept that someone has tried this firmware and appears to be ok, but it would be great if that person could give the HU a good try on everything ie radio, music player, dvd, dvr, rear cam, tv etc. and report on here any issues.
