Next Steps.
Spare wheel well cleaned, derusted, and painted, then a fifth Hairpin bought, with only slight kerbing, almost new tyre, to be full-size spare, installed with replacement screwdown and a full toolpack bought this week. Yellow powerflex arrived and due for rear brakes, powerflex, and whatever else, on Monday, with our tame mechanic. Wonder if coolant issue is just IMG?

Great to see you making a good start. Time for a dedicated project thread perhaps?

So what are you doing with the 11-spokes?
Oh I thinking I'm winning your ebay listing?

Yes Simon, though you are a little way away in Calne. Still, we are close to M5 J4 so a straightforward journey. Yes Tom, I'm using this thread but if you think it should be separated we could do? And if you all knew about the NEXT project, WOW! Thanks, regards, Mike M.

Progress, Confirmation.
Ok, rear brakes renewed, and powerflex bush fitted in lower mount, was very torn. Advised the upper rear arms are getting grotty, on such a young car, and rear springs have fishtails broken, something to do later. However, sniffer confirms Jules' suspicion of head gasket problems. More news to follow.

Recent Progress.
Progress has been slower, however, we may have sorted the head-gasket issue, at least temporarily, as suggested by my tame mechanic, who has never known "Steel Seal" not to work, (non-fibrous unlike Radweld) and it does seem to have effected a cure, was confused because of difficulty getting trapped air out of cooling system, but today it does seem much better, driving round between 78 and 90 degrees, 95 max when waiting. The car drives beautifully, just under 80k miles and engine very sweet and willing.
More testing, gaining confidence as we go. |

Gone further today.
Fred took Bluebird to Redditch and back, 70-80 degress both ways, and just over 90 when queueing back in Bromsgrove, and he agrees it drives fine. More miles needed to give confidence, but yes, only time will tell. Thanks, Mike M.
