I've just noticed that in your post no.10.

If you are using a BMW to ISO adapter lead, you will have disconnected the Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple cables to the black connector, you need to connect the cables from the head unit to the Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple in the BMW plug on the car loom, where you plugged the adapter lead in. (The steering control cables are not carried through in adapter leads, they only carry 13 cables of the 17 in the BMW plug)

if I understand correctly, I have to do it this way:

That's right?

Yes thats it. Make sure it's the BMW plug that the ISO adapter lead is plugged into.

I think I covered a lot of this in my threads above...

This is the connector pulled out of the old radio...

Note below that not all the pins are connected to a cable or pass through the box.

It gets plugged into one of these...

Which only has the relevant pins that connect to cables

The needed cables are cut out and connected to the Green Key-1 and the Black GND

You replaced a Harmony unit that has the BMW connector, (the Symphony and all the single DIN units have ISO connectors) the OP had a Hi line navigation unit which is in the boot and is why he had to go to the connector at the bottom of the centre console.

IT WORKS!!
it works!
it must join green and black wires (coming out of the head unit) to Blue / Purple and Blue / Orange wires after the connector behind the ashtray (as you see in the picture above)
Thanks to all for your help and thanks to raykay for the decisive advice.
I'll try to put this solution in "How to" section to ensure that those who pass by the Hiline to Head Unit know how.
Thanks again to all

p.s. I tried to put this solution in "How to" section, but I haven't permission to access that section
If anyone can do it, it will help others

Write it up and post in here and if the mods wish they will post it in the "how To" section for you.

Sorry I wasn't much use but didn't realise your system was different to mine.

Great you got it to work, eliele

Did you first cut & then spliced the the wires, or did you just "hooked" them on without disconnecting (cutting) them from the connector?

Cheers,
Frank
